Flexible Spending and Other Voluntary Benefits


This program provides a way for state employees to set aside money tax deferred through payroll deduction in order to pay for anticipated health expenses not covered by the health insurance plan. Includes the convenience of a debit card for qualifying health-related purchases and doctor visit co-pays. Voluntary short term disability benefits, critical illness insurance, and accident insurance are also offered.

These Voluntary Benefits are available to all State of NH employees who work a minimum of 30 hours per week. New Hires have a 30-day eligibility window in which to apply for these benefits. The effective date of coverage will be the 1st day of the month following the completion of one full month of employment. If an employee does not enroll during their New Hire eligibility window, the next opportunity to enroll is during Open Enrollment with an effective date of January 1st.

    Anthem.com has partnered with a new company to administer the State’s Health Assessment Tool (HAT) and online digital coaching. Healthways will provide a program called Healthy Lifestyles that includes a Health Assessment Tool (HAT) called a “Well Being Assessment” and online health coaching programs for exercise and fitness, healthy eating, stress or weight management, quitting tobacco, medication or appointment management, depression prevention and self-care.

    Healthy Lifestyles also gives you access to a healthy recipe library, a variety of custom trackers to keep tabs on exercise, weight, stress and more. Plus you can event track your activity on the go with an easy-to-use iPhone application. Below please find A new step by step guide on how to take this new HAT along with a new worksheet and FAQ.
